Murder count now stands at #69

Murder count stands at #69 when a young man was shot and killed Thursday June 11 2015

26-year-old man became the country’s latest murder victim after he was lured outside a nightclub and shot multiple times by a hooded assailant on Thursday night.
The shooting took place shortly after 11pm and brought the country’s murder count for the year to 69, according to The Tribune’s records.
Officer in Charge of the Central Detective Unit, Chief Superintendent Paul Rolle, said the victim was standing on the stairs of a nightclub at the junction of St Vincent and Baillou Hill Roads when “someone called his name”.
“What we do know is that the young man was on the stairs on a building here on Blue Hill Road South having a smoke, when a male approached him from the northern side of the building and called out to him,” Supt Rolle said. “The victim came down the stairs, this male who was wearing a hooded jacket produced a handgun and began discharging shots in his direction hitting him in the head and chest. The suspect then ran south into a waiting vehicle and sped off.”
Police have not identified the victim but The Tribune understands he is Dwayne 'D A’ Major, of Sunshine Park.
A local resident, who did not wish to be named, said a dark-coloured Honda was seen fleeing the scene after the murder.
“I was in the bar and I heard about three to five gun shots. About six of us were in there and we ran outside to see what happened. All we know is he stepped outside for like a minute before we heard the shots to go get a smoke. He was a decent person, didn’t bother anyone, so I don’t understand why someone would do that.”
